The frigid air stole her breath. Or was it the charming man walking her to her Taurus? She had too much work cut out for herself before she'd be ready to date, but couldn't stop the temptation of imagining Zachary Roman as a prospect. Could he be the least bit interested in her, or was he just a nice guy? She stuck the key into her door lock. "Thanks for the escort." "My pleasure." He leaned against the car door, blocking it. "I'd like to ask you something before you escape." "Escape?" She laughed. "Okay, ask." "Would you have free time this weekend to get together? I'd really like to see Fiddler On The Roof at Crescent Hill Community Theater, if you wouldn't think that too cheap a date." Date? Poor guy must be desperately lonely after his divorce. She could relate, since she had free time every weekend. Lots of free time. "I'd love it." "I could take us out to dinner..." He shrugged, remembering they were supposed to be following a weight loss plan of their choosing. "Tell you what. I'll cook. I'll prove to you that a delicious meal doesn't have to be high calorie or high fat." He smiled, and in the vapor lamp lighting his eyes seemed to twinkle. "We'll firm up the details tomorrow. I'd better let you go before we both freeze." Except he didn't move away. He moved closer. And closer. Before she realized what was happening, Zachary brushed his warm, moist lips across hers in a whisper of a kiss. "Good night, Caryn." He stood aside and watched to see her safely strapped into her safety belt. As she pulled up to the light at Bardstown Road, she glanced at her rear view mirror. He waited, watching until the light changed, as if reluctant to see her go. My, he must be lonely, indeed, to kiss the likes of chubby Caryn Cook. If only her lips would stop tingling...
